The Tattooist Of Auschwitz Book Review ♡

A few months ago I read this truly touching book which is based on a true story. The whole concept of the book is gripping and genuinely makes you feel all different emotions throughout the read.

The story begins in 1942, a Slovakian Jew named Lale Sokolov is transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz. It is discovered that he can speak several different languages so he is put at work as a tattooist.

One particular day, he meets a woman called Grita as she is in line to get her number tattooed. Lale falls in love with her at first sight and vows he will survive the camp and soon marry Grita. However, he first has to face the horrific and inhumane events taken place in Auschwitz.

Now, I don't want to talk too much about what happens in the book as I don't want to ruin the storyline but I would highly recommend reading this book as an understanding of what actually happened during the holocaust. It's hard to say I enjoyed this read as quite frankly, it isn't an enjoyable read, I remember crying at some parts, but the whole storyline is so intriguing and heartbreaking that you just can't stop reading it. The detail of some parts made me truly imagine the events and touched me.

The book its self isn't a hard read, its very easy to follow along and if you're like me you'll probably finish it in 3 days as you cant leave yourself in suspense.

Comment your opinion on this book down below and give me more book recommendations as I always struggle to find ones I really enjoy. I'm currently reading Flatshare so maybe that will be the next book review.

Bye! xx
